2023-24. On Structures of Silencing. Mixed Media.
inspired through the beauty trends of American industry and European history’s gender constructions, this series indexes the data of biological and cognitive sciences to explore naturalized trended engagement. From a broader anthropological perspective of cognition and programing, the multi-displinary work explores the ways “constructed woman” self-silences, not just in articulation, but within the breadth of perception and legitimization at large. 2018. “On Societal Narcissism and Nature’s Sacred” an unpublished photo essay.
From 2013 to 2019, STUDIO J/P ROBBINS published a series of photo-essays that underscored the artist’s interest In representation and her excited concern on appreciation. In the exploration of what is from broader orientations of beauty, expression, and liberation outside of the normalized mediums and trends that industry occupy. With the overt objectification of subject, the artist’s commercial photography is published under the moniker STUDIO J/P ROBBINS crediting the container within which the portrait is produced.
2017. We Are Water. Photography/Video and Performance Installment.
A visual koan, this series is inspired by the sacred recognition of mniwiconi water is life, yet relanguaged to meet the ego-orientation dominant and encouraged. Supported through STUDIO J/P ROBBINS: PROJECTS, this is not an initiative that one can be for or against, but instead highlights our inherent interconnectedness to all water bodies including our own. The work has been featured during Miami Art Basel with later installments developed for social media platforms.
2016. The Pardes Portraits. Photography and Mixed Media.
In examining of the human experience as subject, this body of work relates through the four their tradition of cognitive narrative formation and broader frameworked metaphor related to multi-dimensional scape which this human experience comes to approach. With the appreciation of the framing of our sensory field and their limits, this work relates through the droshing tradition to illuminate the variety of focal points which perspective(s) hold, and the acute nature of individual, the broader terrain of collective which embrace of the individual, as well as the limits and informing relation of identification and their identities. The series was first commissioned by phd Harvard scholar Joshua Krug and featured for a round table discussion at Repair the World, Brooklyn.
